Revel in the Unexpected

“Optimism is the ability to live in appreciation rather than expectation.” — Simon Sinek

I remember how I felt when a slim envelope from my dream school was delivered. Acceptance letters are thicker, I thought. I was correct, devastated, and shocked all at the same time. I was expecting to get in.

What followed was an eventual acceptance to the school at which I spent my first year in school. While there, I made some of my best friends, experienced new things, and discovered a lot about myself. Even though I left that school for my current one, I learned to appreciate this vital time.

It wasn’t what I wanted to happen, but I sure am glad it did. When you move forward, despite broken plans, and learn to appreciate the reality you exist in, you can be an optimist.
